The Founder

Founder & CEO

In a rapidly evolving landscape where mission-driven organizations and individuals must stand out, build trust, and scale their efforts, effective communications are no longer optional – they are essential. With over 25 years at the intersection of global communications, conservation, and philanthropy, I bring a unique blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution. My expertise spans nonprofit leadership, setting up public charities, campaigns, fundraising, high-level partnerships, and crafting lasting narratives, grounded in scientific insight and creativity.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most respected conservation organizations and philanthropists, helping to position them on the global stage and secure both critical funding and top-tier media coverage. Whether I’m developing a rebrand, launching a multi-million dollar campaign, elevating major philanthropic gifts, or brokering partnerships, I deliver measurable results rooted in clarity and creativity.

My career has woven together field biology, nonprofit leadership, brand and communications, fundraising, and filmmaking across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the U.S. Prior to launching Sahana Strategies, I served as Chief Communications and Marketing Officer for African Parks, where I helped position the organization globally, led initiatives including the 500 Elephants relocation and Rhinos Return to Rwanda, and spearheaded major campaigns including Prints for Wildlife, which raised millions online.

Earlier, as founding employee and Senior Vice President of Panthera, I helped establish the organization as the leading global big cat conservation nonprofit. I also managed the Tiger Program for the Wildlife Conservation Society across nine Asian countries and co-authored the global recovery plan for wild tigers.

I am an award-winning filmmaker and published author, and have spoken at leading forums including National Geographic, the Wildlife Conservation Network Expo, and the Half-Earth Symposium. I sit on the boards of Going To School and Prints for Wildlife, and serve on the Communications Committee of the Children and Family Network Center.

I currently live in Alexandria, Virginia, with my husband and our daughter, where we spend as much time as possible outdoors, traveling, and exploring our natural world.
